It doesn't. This is Church philosophy developed shortly after the time of Christ. It is not without reason, however, and just because something was not written in the Bible does not necessarily mean it did not occur.
First, both Enoch and Elijah were assumed into heaven (Heb. 11:5, 2 Kgs. 2:11). Also, in Matthew 27:52-53 one can read about saints whose bodies left the grave after the Resurrection of Christ. The early resurrection of these saints anticipated the rising of those who die in faith, all of who will be assumed one day to receive their glorified bodies. Belief in the assumption of Mary is simply the belief that God granted her this gift early, as he appears to have done for others in Matthew 27:52-53.
Second, Jesus was born under the law (Gal. 4:4) and was bound to obey the commandment to honor his mother. The Hebrew word for "honor" does not imply mere courtesy, but the bestowal of honor and glory. By preserving Mary's body from corruption, Jesus fulfills the command to honor his mother in a way that only a divine Son could.
Third, in the book of Revelation we read, "Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; . . . she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron." Mary already seems to be present in the Kingdom of God.
Fourth, (keeping in mind that Tradition is considered by the Church a legitimate and reliable source for teachings in accordance with 2 Thess 2:15, 2 Tim 2:2, 1 Cor 11:2, etc.) the dogma of the Assumption was taught consistantly by early Church Fathers, including Jerome, Origen, Athanasius, Ambrose, Augustine, and Epiphanius. In fact, the first opposition to the Assumption cannot be found until the 8th century with Ambrosius Autpertus.

It doesn't. It is a doctrine we have bestowed upon her. It goes back to when most countries were ruled by a monarchy. The Queen is the highest title given to a female. Just as King is the highest title given to males. Being the mother of jesus, someone somewhere felt she needed a title.

Nowhere, this belief was initiated by Marian apparitions to various Saints and members of the Catholic Church throughout history.
The Catholic Church follows both Scripture and Tradition.

So her Lord accepted her with gracious acceptance and caused her to grow an excellent growth and made Zachariah her guardian. Whenever Zachariah visited her in the chamber, he found with her provisions. He said, 'O Mary whence hast thou this?' She replied, 'It is from God.' Surely, God gives to whomsoever He pleases without measure
And remember when the angels said, 'O Mary, God has chosen thee and purified thee and chosen thee above all women of the time
'O Mary, be obedient to thy Lord and prostrate thyself and worship the one God with those who worship Him
This is of the tidings of things unseen which We reveal to thee. And thou wast not with them when they cast their arrows, as to which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou with them when they disputed with one another
When the angels said, 'O Mary, God gives thee glad tidings of a son through a Word from Him; his name shall be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, honoured in this world and in the next, and of those who are granted nearness to God
And for their disbelief and for their uttering against Mary a grievous calumny
