I am going to Canada for Christmas and want to bring some delicious cheese from England. The cheesemonger said I would have no problems at customs, but I'd like to know if anyone else here has brought dairy products into Canada, or knows exactly what the rules are.

Cheese is Allowed into Canada. All items must be clean and free of pests, soil and roots.

Except if packed in whey.
20 kg/person to a maximum of $20.

Should be no problem. I think one is limited to 10 kilos. If you are going to Quebec you may not want to bother unless it is a gift because of the wide varieties of cheeses sold, imported to and made there (73% of all the cheeses in Canada). However, if to get a cheaper fare you intend to fly via the USA know that any raw milk cheeses aged less than 6 months can be confiscated by the Yanks.
