use particle board that is 3/4 inches thick --glue the box together as well as using drywall screws (drill pilot holes for the screws) cut a hole 2 inches in diameter in the backside and put the sub on the front panel of the box --- as this front will go on last ...Cover the box with a thin carpet or similar material so the box doesn't vibrate against the metal of your ride...

Use whatever you want to make straight and accurate cuts. Using wood glue or some sort of silicone sealant (I used Liquid Nails) and screws to put the pieces together. Drywall screws or wood screws, its not a huge deal. As long as you drill them in straight, the wood shouldn't split either way. As far as wood goes, use 3/4" medium density fiberboard (MDF). Don't forget to cut the holes to mount the subs, I used a jigsaw. Drill a hole along the edge for the circle (draw it out first, however you want, make sure its a perfect circle). If you're going to make a single box for both subs, you'll want it to have a double baffle. Use two pieces of wood put together with plenty of screws and adhesives (whatever you are choosing to use, I would highly recommend some sort of silicone sealant suitable for MDF) and make the two holes on this piece. This is so the wood doesn't crack or break when you have the subs in. If you have an extremely large box, you may want to brace it from the inside.

The carl guy actually has a pretty good idea. Fiberglass resin would work well. It soaks into the wood pieces and will make an airtight seal. The only downside is that it's probably a little messier to work with and you most likely will have to mix it yourself.

do NOT use particle board. and try to use wood screws, drywall screws will work but there is a better chance of splitting the wood. or material, you should be using HDF or MDF, at least 3/4 inch thick. i dont know what he wanted you to cut a 2 inch hole in the back of the box for, but it doesnt make sense, the less holes, the better seal you'll get on the box. get 3/4" MDF, some wood glue and some wood screws, run glue along the seems then put your screws in to hold it in place. when you mount your speakers, you can use speaker dope or finger caulk to gaurentee against leaks, but you dont really need it. for more info, go check out www.the12volt.com

Hell no don't use particle board. Use MDF but actually you don't need screws at all. I use brads. if you have access to a brad nailer I would use it. it leaves a more professional look. Once the wood glue dries its plenty strong enough. the wood will actually break before the bond does. If you decide to use screws then drill pilot holes so you don't split the MDF. It sounds like it wouldn't hurt if you went and checked out www.the12volt.com
like the second guy said. They have more information on box building then you can imagine. good luck.

I am with everyone else on using the MDF. I build fiberglass boxes and the best sealer I have found is fiberglass resign. I have used everything else the resign was the best for me. But silicone and other things of this nature will work. Good luck on the box!
