11 hours is lots of time to go to the beach, explore LA for a bit, or grab a nap at a hotel that offers a day-rate.
Best way to accomplish this is to priceline a rental car... that way, you have transportation (taxis are expensive in LA, and public transit is slow), and you'll have locked storage for your luggage. You should only have to pay $20-25 for a priceline rental.
You definitely don't want to spend that time at LAX... it's not that spectacular of an airport.
EDITED to respond to answerer below - Come on, LA isn't that bad. Even if we go by your worst-case scenario of 3 hours (I honestly think 1 1/2 hours is enough if you don't have elite status), that's still 8 hours for the asker to kill. Still plenty of time to get out and do stuff. Whatever you do, don't go that far, as your arrival and departure times are right during the rush hours. It would also be helpful to know which airlines you're flying (as different terminals have different security checkpoints, and some are notoriously longer than others).
One more thought... you could just standby for an earlier flight to your destination.

I would certainly not recommend leaving the airport. Los Angeles is a busy, congested place and may make you late to your next flight. You might hit some very stringent security checks depending on where you are stopping over from, especially if you are carrying a laptop (speaking from personal experience) and you are asked to check into your flight, I believe, three hours in advance. There are places to grab a bite, or have a drink, and places to shop a bit within the airport. Bring a good book, a game, or magazine. Besides, LA is not really a place to be wandering about when you dont really know where you are going. Sorry I don't have more pleasant ideas, but, thats LA.

For international Flights that's advise that you arrive 3 hours early. this can positioned you at LAX at about 5AM. in spite of the indisputable fact that, once you do not have any bags to envision and print your Boarding bypass at homestead(on the motel) you ought to get there as previous due a 6 or probable even 6:30AM and nonetheless be tremendous going immediately to safe practices once you get there. As for food thoughts in T2 they have a food court docket with a Starbucks and some different quick food form eating places. there is also a Wolfgang %.'s yet i'm not particular in the experience that they are open for Breakfast. in simple terms comprehend that your flight will initiate to board about 7:30AM.
