Yes, I am African American. That doesn't mean I can't be a happy atheist! :) Almost every tragic event in history can be partially blamed on religion (9/11, holocaust, George W. Bush's election, etc.) But I believe that people don't have to believe in what others believe. If they don't, then they don't! So what! I still donate to charities! I plan to adopt children someday! No prob.

Love,

Jamie.

P.S.- I know this vid has been posted alot lately, but let's give it an encore round!

Atheists are lucky... in that they recognize reality and adhere to a rationally supportable metaphysical stance.

And you're right, Christian evangelicals in particular are partially to thank / blame for Dubya Bush's election. He really cranked up the Christian cronyism for that election and it worked wonders.

I still do volunteer work, I still treat everyone compassionately, I still behave morally and responsibly... and I'm an atheist.

And yes, that video has been heavily circulating today... but it's always good to spread the truth, so encore round!

... happiness / lucky is a state of mind, it doesn't have to do with blaming others ... or religion. People believe in something if nothing but themsevles ... and that can be a religion, that they are a god.

When others start blaming others for the outcome of things .. its because they are idiots ... especially when it comes to a two party system in this country ... if you have a third party to take away votes from one party the other party wins, cause there is no chance the third party could have won.

Religion is not the cause of tradgedies past or present. Your own govenment blew up the W.T.C on 9/11 for a start. Missinterpretation of religion is the cause of a lot of sh*t, but you cant blame religion squarely. I watched your link and found it to be most interesting. However, why is it always Christianity that takes the brunt of the critisism. When will you be poking fun at Judaism, Islam etc? Double standards I fear. God bless you.

What's your question??? Are atheists lucky people? What do you mean by that?

I don't think that over 100 million people who died at the hands of Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung are very lucky. They were Atheist dictators who have the most blood on their hands in human history. I know right now that Joseph and Mao aren't very lucky.

Go on with your good deeds. I guess you feel there is a purpose for doing good, but it's not going to save you from hell.

Turn to Jesus now while there is still time. He does love you.

LOVE this video. (Did you know he made it after his girlfriend broke up with him? Her Christian family didn't like him.)

I admit that I also feel fortunate -- not to be an atheist, but to be here and alive when the genetic odds were so very strongly against it. People have no idea how precious life really is.

I understand your stress to be a reluctant Christian. But the alternative is not to be an atheist. You may read other philosophy not connected with any organized religion and still develop a positive view about the God, Man and the Universe. Please read Indian Philosophy or a book by Will Durant entitled 'Pleasures of Philosophy".

Actually...their not! They have nothing to look forward too after dying, no one ot believe in, no hope, a lot of fear, and no one to believe in. People who do believe are the lucky ones.

Atheists aren't the luckiest, agnostics are, they just say i don't say there is a god and i don't say there isn't, atheists have to stand up for why they say there is not god
