Is 30 minutes of jumping rope a good exercise?

It would be good cardio. Anywhere from 45 min. to an hour is a good amount of time. The type of exercise you do depends on what type of results you are looking for.

A good amount of a work out should be 60 min. at tops of running, sit ups and pushups and other things.
