My female cat nevers comes to sit on us, she absolutely hates it, she will growl, hiss, wiggle her tail and run off. My other cats in the past loved to be petted why is she like this? She will only come to me if she wants to knead, after she finishes she will run off.

Thank you so much for posting that question. When someone once wondered about the choice of a male or female kitten, I advised that although kittens were all lovey, I noticed that my guys were all lovers and my girls were more soliltary as adults. I got four thumbs down for that one. Go figure. Nice to know someone else has noticed.

Unfortunately, that sounds like her personality. My kitten adores to be petted and scratched, but she dispises being held in any way. She'll wiggle off and not come back for a while. Some cats just like to be pet and cuddled more than others.

You can try gentling her. Pick her up and hold her securely so she can't get away, cupping her paws in your hand so you don't get scratched. (don't hurt her though!) After she has finished her hissy fit she will likely give up for a few minutes. Just stand there like that for 5-10 minute intervals increasing time as she gets used to it. DON'T sit down. They will see the floor and escape is that much closer and struggle all the more.
She may be a little old for this and some think it's a mean... but it's a form of training to get her used to be held. But it takes alot of dilligent work.

I have 4 cats-2 males and 2 females. All are fixed. All but 1 of the females love to be held and cuddled. The 1 female will bite, hiss, scratch, and raise all kind of cane if I pick her up. She will sit beside me to be petted (only as much as SHE wants). It's her personality because she was raised from the same age (baby kittens) as 1 of the males. I know how you feel, I'd love to cuddle her. We just have to respect their wishes. Good luck!

My gal-cat is like that, too. She never even kneads! Ever! She's only hissed like twice in her life and I doubt she even knows how to growl. She had sweet moments, but she never sits in our laps. I have had a gal-cat before that was the sweetest thing on four paws! It's just a personality quirk I think.

Animals are like people, some more affectionate than others. I don't see a lot of people asking a question like "I have a friend that doesn't like to hug me when we meet. All my other friends hug and kiss me, but this one doesn't" You would just think that your friend shows her affection in other ways than hugging and kissing. Why would you expect different behavior in an animal?

Because she's the Queen, thats why. Cats are finicky. They have their own agenda.

it is a female cat thing...they just usually aren't as affectionate as males. Occasionally you will find one but it is rare.
