encodiing a dvd or video?

Im using nero recode the compression gets to 20% and stops then nero gives me and error and says nero encountered and error and can not continue then it says failed to read from the file VTS_01_4 VOB Yes the movie was on a dvd that i burned myslef does anyone know how i can fix this or anything thnx

It could be an error in the file, or it could be a smudge/scratch on the DVD. Try to copy the DVD to the hard disk and try to recode the file from the hard disk.
