I have had eyeliner and lip color tattooing for 15 years and love it! I have only had to have one touch up all that time. Eyebrow tattooing needs to be touched up more often since the browns are not as stable and fade faster. It is not a big deal to refresh the color.

For the eyeliner, go with a modest approach - no wings or a thick heavy look that won't withstand the test of time.

Be sure, more than anything you go to a competent professional. Since the industry is so new, you will find many who are not trained well and don't have the artistic ability.

Side effects include allergy (very rare) infection and a scratched cornea - all these are generally avoided if the person knows what they are doing.

By the way, I also own a tattoo studio and have been doing this for 15 years as well.

I had my eyebrows done 10 years ago. I was and still am, very pleased with the results. I haven't had to do a touch up yet. They look more natural than when I had to draw them in with a pencil. There was no pain. It just felt like some one was very lightly running a tooth pick over by brows. It didn't take a long time, so it wasn't nerve wracking either. I'm not sure if I have the nerve to do eye liner though. My friend had hers done and she looks beautiful. She said it wasn't painful just uncomfortable. She's a lot braver and tougher than I am :)

hey! i had my eye liner tatooed on about two years ago, and i love it! i hated the idea of getting up and putting it on every morning. soooo, i kind of "shopped around" if you will for the artist. i asked other artists what their impressions of other artists were. i went with the one that was reported to be the most conservative. i did this becasue you can always put more ie: go with a thicker line, but you can't take it away, and this is going to be on your face, you want to make sure you like it! It is somewhat painful but you can take something before you go to relax you and knock the edge off, but not too strong you want to stay awake, all in all the hardest part was getting used to having the buzzing sound right by my ear.....one last word to the wise, don't schedule your appointment anywhere near your period because your body is super sensitive at this time and it hurts quite abit more!!! good luck!

Yes I have had my eyebrows done. It is more uncomfortable than painful. The side effects were a little swelling, but I LOVE the end results.

I haven't. What if the needle misses and goes into your eye? Yikes. I don't want to take the chance. Plus, there's the possibility of infection and the chemicals having adverse effects on your liver, which is irreversible. Once your liver goes, you start aging quick. So, it's not worth it.
