another student. He has never been in trouble before, and another student showed him how to do this. He and the boy took turns doing it to each other. My question is, should he be punished at home as well? The school let him off because he never gets in trouble. What would you do??

He is in 2nd grade- in a 2/3 combo class. The other boys were 3rd graders.

This is pretty dangerous sort of behaviour. You need to sit him down and let him know how shocked and concerned you are. I'd make a really big deal of it; lay on the guilt trip (!) I dont see that there is any way to actually punish for it though, I'm surprised the school didn't at least give a detention or call you down.

Sounds like he was introduced to the "choking game" where kids will cut off their air until almost unconscious for the high. Dear Abby has actually been addressing this in-depth lately because young kids are dying because of it. More than punishment, your son needs to be made to understand the danger of this "game". He should also let you know of anyone he knows who plays it. Truly, don't brush this off; it's serious. Good luck.

the college needless to say dosen't care lots. thinking that blaming your son while is multiples components in play, yet is a school so alot of issues circulate on. i will say circulate, yet your son probable has pals there already and can advance into aggressive if this occurs and resent you slightly for such action. you may communicate on your son, and in case you have of undertaking to the mum and dad of the bullies in the event that they're life like human beings and detect a compromise. Your son is obviously greater effective, so basically tell him to tone it down slightly if he's attacked returned and verbal verbal substitute fails returned. tutor him restraining workouts, or strikes to knock the bullies all the way down to the floor without doing injury. help him prepare limited, and tell that martial arts protection is most of the time think to be the point of your attacker, you could no longer anticipate young ones without practise to do lots. so sturdy luck!

You absolutely need to punish him for this, if you let it go what keeps him from doing it again and saying, "well you let me do it last time". You don't need to punish him severely but definitely you need to make it clear that this type of behavior is not permitted at home or at school. It's also a great time to get a word in about peer pressure and learning negatives from other children.

I would explain to him that his behavior was unacceptable, and if someone tells him to do something that is wrong; to stay away from those type of kids because they usually are trouble makers. And that if it happens again; he and the your leather belt is going to have a neutral meeting ground.

You will want to talk to him about the fact that what he did, while in fun, could be dangerous and is a serious issue.
I would give him a fair warning and be sure he understands that that behavior is unacceptable.

Rather than punnishing him, you should have a serious conversation with him about how serious this is. It could result in a punnishment at school or even an injury or death. He needs to understand how important it is that he doesn't do this again.
