I just got home from the drugstore and I got carded for buying some Delsym. I asked the clerk and he said it was procedure, even for baby cough syrup. Has this happened to anyone else?

If the item has pseudoephedrine in it, it has to be kept out of the customer's reach and you have to give ID and, usually, sign for it. The drug mentioned is a big problem, especially in the Midwest, as it is used to make crystal methamphetamine, which has become a scourge.

Well first of all it is used in making some forms of meth. Also young teens have found that cough syrup is a good way to get drunk, just like how you have to be 18 to buy glue and white out now.

If you looked under age...there is alcohol in cough syrup. There are a lot of over the counter drugs that are now under lock and key because of them being abused... if you look young feel blessed and if you go to buy spray paint have your id ready *wink*
Don't take it personally, they are just doing their job.

Yeah the druggies using cold medicine to make Meth with!
Plus some of that stuff it has more alcohol in it than whiskey. Had guy I knew end up getting a DUI from taking Vicks NyQuil cough medicine and driving. Come to find out that stuff is is 44% alcohol or 88 proof. And Winos drink that stuff when they can't afford booze.

It is because of all the meth heads. Certain ingredients in everyday cough medicine and decongestants are used to make methamphetamine so the government has decided that they will track who is buying what and if you buy too much they will take a look at you.

Because not only can cough syrup be addictive, it could possibly be used in conjunction with other over the counter drugs to make illegal drugs.

Well I think the answer is obvious,
To avoid abusing of it.Drug uses have such thoughths that they can use almost any medication & turn them into some kind of drugs.
Reason for ID,I thinkits only for certain kind of cough mixture not all.
So I guess either you look young for you age or you are young

definite, because of the fact they incorporate alcohol. i don't be attentive to if there is an age limit or no longer, yet what they're aiming to do is shop music of what share are being offered via a single individual, so people isn't abusing them.

Yes, teenagers use it and abuse it, it's called robotripping and people who manufacture methamphetamine use it to make that drug. They won't let you buy more than one product at a time in some states.

I believe cough syrup has something addictive in it... I'm not sure though.
