You should give it to Heifer Project International
It helps impoverished families worldwide become more self-reliant through the gift of livestock and training in their care.
This charity really helps people to help themself, once the gift of livestock is given. I've given to this charity for over 10 years now.

Hello Paddster@!I do have a special place for homeless issues as I have been homeless and slowly am trying to work my way back to independence. Ive been thru a ton of social service agencies. The bigger they are, the LESS they do for the community. Im not kidding! I would suggest going to your local township or County social service office and asking to meet with or adopt a family yourself. Take them shopping and buy them what ever they need , or give the family the cash. Truely padster, there are almost no agencies that GIVE CASH.. and homeless are in dier need of cash! I would suggest if they truely have no home to give them a gift card that can be used as cash . you can get them at the bank and make sure you dont need Identification to shop with them . And that it is accepted all over.
The only charity I know of that gives SOME cash is Catholic Charities. The rest give ya clothes canned food household goods, and run ya thru the ringer.
If i had a $1,000 i would put a deposit down on a small apt and start all over! Or get my broken down car fixed to run. Then I could get a job!

I found out the other day that any donations to charities abroad are deducted for tax aswell, so donate it to a UK charity if you don't want to pay admin fees. Hope this helps.

15% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
geees, how about donating to children in need fund apparently -0% of money raised goes to admin, presumably because everyone is volunteers.
Or donate to wateraid as i do, although i hope a little more than 15% gets thru with that charity.

I would suggest buying some gifts for elderly folks in your area. Items like sweaters, house slippers, hats, gloves, and maybe a few grocery items can go a long way. Maybe ask your friends and family if they know any elderly people who live alone. Leave a care package on their doorstep.

Radio Humberside's making waves appeal. For local lifeboat stations. ALL money goes to them. You never know when you might need a lifeboat.
