My kitty caught a mouse and laid it in the garage as a gift. About half an hour later I went out to put it in the trash and it was gone. Who stole her mouse?

Hi there...if the mouse wasn't badly injured it will play dead and when no predators are bothering will bolt away to safety. If the kitty ate the mouse, chances are you would see some evidence of blood nearby.

My cat used to bring me presents, but they were never actually dead. After she had stepped away from it, they would come out of a stunned state and I would get my work out catching the thing. I tell ya, they are fast! And you have to pin them so you can grab their tail. I suspect as others said it was stunned and slunk off later to shelter.

Either is wasn't dead, and ran away - or your kitty sneaked back in and ate it - you will probably find its tail somewhere, if that is the case. (They do not usually eat that part of the mouse).
