That's his choice to make, not yours. He needs support and encouragement, not someone like you bringing him down. Obviously he doesn't care about your reasons, and he shouldn't. This is his life. If you don't want to be part of it, end it with him and let him move on. Joining the military is one of the best decisions he could make. He'll see alot, learn alot, get an education and prepare for a career after and most of all, he'll become a better man. There's nothing greater than the pride, respect and honor of serving ones country.
Don't let your fears discourage him. Support him and tell him "thanks" for being willing to protect yours and your families rights and freedoms.
Good luck to him (and you if you decide to stand by his decision).

There is no right or wrong answer to this question. But, if you love him then you will support what he decides. Personally, I would not choose the Army as they have more a greater chance of going to Iraq. That is the downside.
The upside is that you get to see new places, free education, healthcare is always there and you can always get an appointment. There are more upsides than down. In my case, it forced me to grow up faster and be more responsible for my actions. You have freedoms that you might not might be able to enjoy when you are stuck at a dead-end job. It also depends on what his MOS would be and how that can help him once he decides to get out. Also, if he decides to stay for the 20 plus years, then he will have a retirment check each month plus he will still be in his later 30's early 40's...plenty of time to get another job.
Just stand by and support his decision. It's his time to forge a path for himself and you can either stand by his side or get left in the dust. My choice: stand by him weather you like it or not.
Good Luck!!

Because the government will then own his butt..He will no longer be "free" so to speak..he will have a commitment to the Army until he fulfills it...and then it's no guarantee because if he's needed he may not be getting out when he thinks he will. The army is for some, but not for all and I know alot of people go in and then wish they hadn't...A friend of ours just wrote back home and said anyone who is thinking of joining...DON"T DO IT!! My hat off to your boyfriend if he does in enlist and serve our country...I respect all people in the armed services for their sacrifice...but I think it's a HUGE HUGE HUGE decision and everyone better be very very sure it's what they want to do before they sign on that dotted line. Remind him it's alot of time away from friends and family, from you...it's giving up his life as he knows it now...Good luck either way this turns out and to the both of you...stay strong and God bless.

Sorry but that's his decision. However I have to say that if he decides to do it and you don't want him to then you need to end the relationship now. The last thing he'll need while out training or out on deployment is to get a dear John letter. But ultimately he needs to do what's best for him and what he wants. Good luck to you guys!

If you really love him and if this is something he really wants, you should be asking questions like "What kind of things can I do to occupy myself while my bf is at bootcamp?" Or "What are some pros and cons of joining the military?" Your relationship will not last if you don't support him and his decision.
Good luck.

well i am not sure where you are from but lets assume its america... ok first of all from a sociologist stand point the armed forces job is to take away your identity and to make you into a number (forget this army of noe crap) and second they teach you to see other human beings(the enemy) as less then human so you will be in a better head space to kill. If your boyfriend does not want to lose a big part of who he is then he should not join. the armed forces are not all bad there is much to be thankful for and they teach you many great things...but i think where we are today with all these immoral conflicts going on it is not a good idea.

its not worth it. My husband joined the army and I wish we would of thought about it way better before he went active. Now he's over there missing out on our childrens lives, something he trully regrets. I would give up all the money in the world to bring my husband back to us. And I know he thinks the same way too. And plus they treat the soldiers like ****! They yell at them like if they are 2 year olds

trust me there is nothing you can do to change his mind. Men seem to think they have to be all macho. if he wants to join that's his problem, not yours. you may love him now, but will you love him after the post traumatic stress disorder sets in after he gets home from the war. will you also stand by his side if he has to have a limb amputated? if you answered no to these questions then i suggest you let go of that relationship. i have dated three army guys and you can do nothing to change their minds.

He definitely should not join the army. He may end up in hell if he does so. The ten commandments tells us that we are not supposed to kill. Read my question "Do you think the birth of the Red Heifers born in the 1990’s is proof that the Messiah will be coming soon?" The wars are probably being headed by the Antichrist right now... don't let him go!

No.
I wouldn't even if I could think of any. And the decision should be
up to him, not you. Try being supportive. It will get you a lot
further.
Thank you very much, while you're up!
