One option to do it that "might be legal" - depends on the interpretation of the law, is to burn the downloaded music to a CD (as a CD-Audio) and then to use iTunes or another program to "rip" it back as an MP3 file.

through my experience tha above answer is the only way. see apple did this sneaky trick where u can only use iTunes for an ipod transfer cuz they dont want ppl using their product. in the end, i hate apple :)
