Well, there are many things you can do on a budget. Go to a Christmas tree lot in your area and see if they have branches they are tossing out. The fresh cut branches from the trees can be used on mantels and shelves etc. The smell is nice too. Traditional Christmas balls are real cheap ( $2-5 a box) they can be hung from chandeliers to dress them up. Note, pick two colors... ice blue and silver, red and green, gold and white and stick with them. This will avoid the pee wee's play house look. If you have pine trees in the area, fill a nice bowl with pine cones. Get some cheap ribbon that goes with your color scheme. Get the kind with wire ($1-10) Use the ribbon to dress up ordinary things in your home. If you have a dollar store nearby check out their holiday stuff. A wreath on your front door is very traditional and a basic one can be had for cheap. Then use your ribbon and pine cones and such to dress it up.

Go to the fabric/craft section of wal-mart and buy a bag of that white stuffing stuff. not sure what it is called, but I got some and used wads of it on top of my TV & on tops of shelves & stuff to look like snow. Christmas lights are the cheapest thing so i wen t crazy with them. I woudl reccomend white or blue though b/c I HATE the multi-colored Christmas lights- I think it looks tacky. Silver and Gold ball ornaments can be hung ANYWHERE! Buy some cheap material in either red, green, silver or white adn VOILA- a holiday tablecloth! When I was in college, I bought all kinds of stuff fomr the dolalr store. Ribbon, ornament balls, lights, candles, fridge magnets, burner covers! Also, this wont help you this year, but like the day after Christmas, go to Hobby Lobby and places liek that and you can get all kinds of goodies for liek 75% off! Then you will have a bigger collection for next year! Try www.orientaltradingcompany.com or www. terrysvillage.com too!

You can decorate with old x-mas cards by turning them into ornaments. You just cut out the picture and glue it to cardboard or posterboard and make a little house shaped frame around it with toothpicks. You could also connect a bunch of them together with ribbon and hang like a garland. If you go to Christmas at imagitek.com they have a lot of great ideas for making your own decorations. Plus the ideas are budget friendly.

Go to a dollar store, buy some inexpensive wrapping paper and ribbon. Wrap all your wall pictures up like presents and hang them back up. Get some solid color Christmas balls (like red & silver or green & gold), pile them into a bowl for a center piece. Go to a woodsy area and collect some pine branches and pinecones to put on a table with a candle. Hang up your Christmas cards around your doorways.

Red, Green and White are the primary colors, anything that glitters, any theme seems to be acceptable.

Take some garland and put it up in doorways (garland is real cheap). Put some lights up around your windows. Lights are cheap also.
