Have a small outdoor barbeque. You can have bbq chicken, a pork roast, green beens with garlic and bacon, roasted potatos with rosemary, corn on the cob.Make it a buffet

Get a band or dj
and some booze

We did our wedding very simple and had a ton of people say it was the best wedding they had been to. First ask your friends and family for help because people like to be a part of things and help. Make it a potluck or buy the food and ask for volunteers to cook it and bring it. Make your bouguets and corsages from artificial flowers it's way cheaper. Borrow a wedding dress or now a days most wedding places offer rentals same with tuxs. Print your invites from your own printer/computer. Ask your relatives if they have a good centerpeice you could borrow for the wedding table. Borrow bowls, vases, etc. Make and bottle your own wine that you serve on your special day. The best way to make your wedding memorable and sweet is adding personal touches. ie: have a photo wall or book that show a progression of your marriage/relationship, buy a huge pic mat and get everyone there to sign it then take a photo of all ur guests and put it in that mat after as a keepsake. Share fav songs of those departed that u wish could be there. Do a special skit or poem tribute to the parents of both. Ask all the guests to come up and tell jokes/stories of how they know either of you.

I would try to do a destination wedding. These are the best because it gives you the perfect excuse to invite only a small group. Also, you can do it in a beautiful locale with everything paid in one sweep. Example: go to Los Cabos Mexico... stay at a nice resort, have your friends and family meet you there, have a fun weekend and renew your vows on the beach.

How fun!!

If you are renewing your vows it is not a wedding. Have the vow renewal, then close friends and family to your home for a simple dinner.

We just got married last year, we had both gone overboard the first time (with different people). We kept it simple, word of mouth to invite, lunch meat and cheese, the fixings for sandwiches, chips, cookies, and of course our cakes.

Really its your wedding, or renewal, do what YOU want. what are you and your spouses favorites?

Keep control of your plans. Don't let family members or friends help. When they help the plans usually get larger. Also keep a strict budget. This will keep you planning for a small wedding.

my wedding (if I can call it), was very, very small. just my parents, his parents, the witnesses, a cake, a couple of beers and that was it. I wore a rented gown for the pictures.
