If someone gave $1k to the winner of a letter writing contest to write a letter to Oprah to get her to talk about something relevant what would the topic be?

I personal would tell her what she doing tell other people to give. She should give cause she want to not for a reward. She want it for for an ego. my question to her would be why do you have a big ego and think you better than everyone else.

Deafness and its issues. I am deaf and it is not understood how I live in a world of isolation from sounds. Many persons are under the impression that deaf persons read lips, that is not the case. Most deaf persons use sign language for communication. Emergency personnel are not taught about the issues of not being able to communicate with deaf persons. Imagine the fear when one is in an accident large or small and the people that are supposed to be helping them are unable to understand the basics of sign communication and the rescue person is unable to give directions or explinations of what is happeing to the deaf person. This is an issue that I believe needs to be stopped and training on dealing with this disability made known. We all know of the devistation with hurricane Katrina, but what if there was a better alerting system in place to tell people of the dangers of storms such as a hurricane that was not verbal in nature? I have also been in a situation in which a large storm hit my area and I was unable to get the information in time to make the proper arrangements to get to safety. Although I did make it to a safe place it was at the very last minute and it was more than an adventure that I would like to never live throug again.

Why are celebrities adopting kids from other countries when there are so many in their own country that need loving homes?
Do they really think that adopting one child at a time is going to help the country they live in? If they really want to help these kids and their families, just donate some of their million$, and let life for all be a little more kinder and gentler!

There is an out break of Aids, Herpes and other disease at my child high school, what can we do to stop this? Why are kids in a rush to have sex now? Sex is getting to common , what happened to waiting until you were married? Why are there more teen mothers than anything. If they would have left pray in schools, things would not be like this.

Why did she ask upper and middle class people to pay it forward. Why not pay it forward to the working class poor, or to single parent homes. Why not just give it people that really need the money. I am a single mom that struggles everyday to try to maintain my home, it is so overwhelming sometimes and the premise to give 1000.00 to help someone is nice but unrealistic of who you asked. Of course those people are willing to pay it forward they make more than minimum wage. They live in nice neighborhoods, drive nice cars, have credit cards and nice vacations. Ask someone who can't afford those things and see what they say.
