i have a 92 mustang lx 2.3l and when i go to take off it starts sputtering and stalling and stuff, it bogs down and doesn't want to take off, i took off the hose thing that runs from the air cleaner to the throttle body and it seems to run like 30x better, what could be causing this, i have put the computer on it and it doesn't say anything. I know alittle about cars, im in auto 2 at school, so if anyone could help me then i would be thankful,

from what you said check to see that there isn't something blocking the air intake hose under the airfilter (you did take the plastic wrapper off the new filter if it came wrapped?) also if this car has an automatic vacuum actuated choke just behind the air filter (in the side of the air box), make sure it isn't stuck closed if it is it will crank fine but "choke" when you try to drive. it can't get enough air to GO.

might need a good tuneup. air filter, oil, spark plugs n wires, distributor cap, and rotor button...

Might be something like a head gasket if it has overheated. It could have worn rings, and might just need rebuilt. not enough details on the car etc... Could be as simply as replacing a .25 cent hose. Vacuum leak is normally the culprit, but I don't think it is in this case.

mileage, how its driven, does it leak oil, type of gas, maintenance, i mean this could be many many things.

DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT run a fuel/fuel injector cleaner in that car, as long as its been building sediment, it'll break it all lose at once, and you will be replacing a lot more things. If you have don't that already, then your injectors are clogged, unless its been ran through the car all along.

Good old 2.3l. I had to rebuild mine 3 times. Sounds to me like you head is going out. Run some injector cleaner through it on a 1/4 tank.

Either the mass air flow senor is no good, something blocked in the air cleaner duct.
Sounds more like low fuel pressure.

your car needs a new air filter this is obvious. just buy a new air filter and your car will be better. Never drive your car with out an air filter because you will wear out your engine in a matter of weeks.

while you're conversing transmssion takes a 2d, then attempt a tranny service. in case you conversing a hestitation in the motor, study on Take it to somebody who definitely is conscious the autolite of motocraft carbs. One considerable for a "hesitant" initiate from a supply up or perhaps happening the line is the "accelerator pump" in the carb. No its no longer a gas pump. Its a small one million inch diafram plunger that when the gas pedal is pressed it shoots a small squirt of gas into the backside of the carb. you are able to examine this actual. Take off the air breather, open the chole plate if its closed, then mash the accelerator linkage a pair instances mutually as finding down the throat of the carb "whilst motor vehicle isn't working of direction" in case you spot a pair streams of gas shooting in there, then the pump is working superb. That pump sucks gas from the gas bowl of the carb and squirts it in the throat. purely different reason at the back of your prob could be a undesirable choke pulloff. examine the motor vehicle whilst its chilly, push gas pedal slowly to the floor and enable off, then take off air breather and notice if the chole plate is closed. initiate and run the motor vehicle after a minute hit the gas a splash and notice if the choke plate opens extra. Now enable the motor vehicle heat up each of ways. you will see a splash dashpot on the ideal edge of that carb. this is the chole pull off. mutually as the motor vehicle is warm and idling, Pull the vacuum line to that dashpot, you may desire to work out the arm on that valve circulate back to default. If that arm does not circulate, you have a undesirable choke pulloff. best broker of a carb in the previous college days, the rubber diafram gets dry and rots and cracks allowing the vacuum to no longer carry. a super technique to study this is that in case you had a vacuum gun. $27 dollars at autozone. Its like a hand pump, yet sucks air. You connect it to the dashpot. Pump it, the dashpot will maximum probable nonetheless pull back. yet once you supply up pumping if the dashpot is going back lower back, the dashpot is undesirable because of the fact the air is blleding off. employing vacumm after which combating the dashpot could desire to stay back because of the fact it remains under vacuum. desire this enables!
