Hi there...many shelters will perform a spay/neuter as young as 8 weeks or if the cats and dogs who weigh at least of 2/3 lbs so they can withstand the anesthetic. Most vets will recommend 5/6 months as a general rule.

It can be done as early as 8 weeks of age, however most vets don't do pediatric spays and will spay any time 4 months old and on.

For both dogs & cats, the earliest you can safely spay them, is 2 months & 2lbs. Must meet both requirements, of course.

Depends on the animal's weight and the vet. Most all vets don't like to do it (and won't) until the pet is 4 mths old but they like them to be 6 mths.
