Aspirin doesn't act on nerve endings. Aspirin is an inhibitor of an enzyme called cyclooxygenase. The enzyme cyclooxygenase is important in the lipid signalling system of prostaglandins and leukotrienes that are part of the inflammatory cascade. It is this signalling system that makes you feel pain.
