I know that the average MCAT score to get into MD school is nearly 5 points higher than DO school.

So why would anyone choose to go to a DO school over going to an MD school if they had the option?

I don't think they have an option, similar to when white chicks sleep with black guys they are just not good enough to get with a white dude so they have to settle.

medical school in general is very competitive whether it be do or md. people will apply to boht and will settle w/ whoever accepts them and if its only a DO school that accepted them then they have no choice but to accept. they can try to apply again next year but why waste a year when you could be a year closer to becoming a doctor. but as i said on your other question, majority of the people will choose to go to md if accepted to both b/c md is well known by the public. the do's history started a little over a century ago and the person who started it was an MD who started the DO b/c he was tired of the MD philosophy during that time. of course things are different today. heck i didn't know what a do was until my friend was applying to med school and told me about this. i thought it was a natural school and then he educated me abt it. good luck and have an open mind w/ DO's bc they practice medicine just like MDs but w/ a little extra: Osteopathic manipulation. think of a doctor w/ a chiropractic touch!
