Is this normal. I've been excersizing and it's not like this is the first year of running or anything. I've been running in gym all the time ya know? But for the past year in a half I always get this horrible rib pain right below my chest and it always slows me down because it hurts so much. It usually stops after 20minutes of not running. What's wrong with me? I'm drinking enough water.
Age:16
Gender:female
Height: 5ft 4.5inches
Weight:112lbs
fat %: 22
What's going on?
Water amount: 1gallon at least and not all at once.

You're not breathing right, you need to take DEEP breaths while you're running. I know this because my brother is in the Coast Guard and that (the deep inhalation, breathing) stopped my side chest pains.

It is difficult to provide answers without more info. You did not state your age. If you are older, based on your description of the location of the pain it may be an occult inguinal or femoral hernia. The pain associated can be described as tearing, and you do not need to see a bulge to have a hernia. If it is a hernia they will get worse over time, just wanted you to know that. It also may be you have diverticulosis, based on the location of the pain. The most common segment of the bowel involved is the sigmoid colon in the lower left quadrant. A sigmoidoscopy would confirm this.

Hi Sweety, I use to be a runner myself until my accident. You are pushing yourself to hard. When you get these pains, you need to stop running, and cool down for at least 15 minutes. I know you love running, but your health comes first. If you are still getting these pain after a run,you really need to get it checked out,and make sure everything is okay. A Friend.

I like to refer to this as a "tic in my side". It has a lot to do with your breathing. If you become winded you will take quicker shorter gulps of air to get more oxygen. If you will pratice breathing slower and deeper while running this should stop.

Most likely your condition relates to a depletion of oxygen, please study better breathing techniques, avoid heavy food before you exercise, and visit a sport medicine specialist if the problem persists.

Most likely you have a rib that is out of place. go see a Chiropractor and he will get you all fixed up.
