It began feeling this way on Sunday and I made an appointment to see the doctor next week on monday. I told my mom i may have an infection and she totall freaked out which ofcourse made me feel really scared too! Is it a log time to wait from mow to then (Monday.) Or should i just relax till then? I just need to be reassured! Help!

Typical signs and symptoms of an infection include redness, swelling, pain, a pus like discharge, If you are experiencing these symptoms you should probably get checked before Monday. I don't want to scare you but on March 17 this year a young girl in my province died from a staph infection related to a body piercing so get yourself to a doctor, either emergency room or at an office.

You don't need to go to the emergency room in the middle of the night unless it is progressing rapidly, but you should be seen soon (within a day). I agree with other poster that you should let your doctor know you feel you need to be seen today or tomorrow. If you doctor cannot see you, consider seeing someone else or going to an urgent care center.

Also take the piercing out and leave it out. The foreign body will make the infection worse.

Since you have an infection you need to call the docs office again and tell them this and request and emergency appointment. When you call for an appointment always be specific about what you need to see the doc for so they can decide if it needs more immediate attention or if it is something that can wait.

I would go immediately, esp. if your skin becomes red in areas around the belly button, not directly at the piercing site, b/c that could be an indicator that it has spread!

infections happen, esp. when the area has a peircing. clean the area and put neosporan on it and if it stays infected(give the neosporan a few days) you should see a doctor. don't freak out, just get it taken care of.

You probably didn't clean it the way you were supposed to which led to the infection.

People have died because of blood poisoning from body piercings.

Probably should have gone to the emergency room immediately.
