It is because we don't value the same things as they do. They want us to value their god as much as they do. I guess they feel that by us not recognizing it it takes away from its supposed awesomeness.

"When I am asked if I am a Christian, I have a difficult time saying yes. I do believe in God, as the Creator of all and we are silly if we think all is within our grasp. How I feel about God doesn’t seem to be quite the same as Christian people feel. But yet, Christian is the word to describe someone who believes in God, but it appears the word has come to mean very little. I don't have any reason to dislike or hate you. If I did feel anything less than compassion for you, I would have to justify that to God."

Since I used to be an atheist, I feel somewhat more qualified than others, maybe, to answer.
Romans 8:6 To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
An atheist and a christian are diametrically opposed in the mind. Furthermore, there is no common ground from which to argue logically, since a priori : materialism and spiritualism have a different worldview.
Is love real?
your definition of love will not be anything like mine.
We don't hate you. You just have to stew in your juices a while so we can talk the same language. Hopefully.

The weakness of all faiths is that doubts always lurk below the surface, and the beliefs involved need constant reinforcement.
Anything that adversely affects that shaky structure is feared, and fear begets hate for the source of that fear. Atheists are seen as intentional promulgators of doubt and fear. This also comes across as hatred of the God that Christians love and need to keep loving.
It's hard to hate the hate and not hate the hater.

A true Christian believes that one can only be saved through accepting God guides you and Jesus is your savior. Anyone who doesn’t can very possibly go to Hell. Many atheists are attacking Christians and many Christians shove their beliefs down your throat. What you see here is really not civilized discussion. We’re basically yelling at each other.

It is Christians who are being villainized and persecuted all over this country. You are a fine example of that by making sweeping generalized statements. I am a Christian and I don't Hate anyone. Just because someone does not agree with your beliefs or lack thereof does not make them hate or dislike you. If anything, other people dislike and hate us.

I think you've encountered the wrong Christians. Sorry about that. It does give us a bad name. If they were truly secure in their beliefs they would not be offended by those who are not of their faith. I'm Christian, married to an agnostic, and I love her to death. I can't deny what I know, but that's what I know. To each their own.

I've had problems from both sides since I refuse to choose one way of thinking. There are always people who delight in looking down on someone. I wouldn't say they are usually Christians.

Some atheists are rude. But most of the time it's because beliefs are non-transformative (unlike direct experience) and, therefore, atheistic thought represents a threat to a very shaky belief system.

I guess you have met some folks who are Christians in name only. Or, perhaps they are afraid that the churches may lose their property tax exemptions.

It is because you agressively blaspheme against God by denying His existence and by such demand we bow to secular ideas and life by further demanding change in our lives, gov`t, schools etc. you allow immoral behavior to be legalized and therefore represent immorality in your identities...we will always fight you to keep our way of life...in a country built on our christian principles...not your liberal relativism...freedom without responsibility....equals anarchy and chaos.
