God also says murder is wrong - so are you promoting it by watching violent shows or playing violent games?
God says coveting is wrong so how much of our purchasing done because of ad driven coveting vs. God supplied needs?
Most of the gay Bible passages are OT regulations/laws and not commandments. We don't consider adultery an ultimate sin from OT, even though there is a ccommandment.
I think I am more worried about hypocrisy as a Christian if I choose to be anti-gay because I am uncomfortable with the idea and there are a few texts...and yet allow promiscuity and violence to fill my days.
Thank you for caring enough to wrestle with this.

Wow, this forum is actually really good. It's so refreshing to see articulate, educated people being objective and encouraging others to look inside and make their own choices. I have to admit that I get pretty angry about these topics because I think telling people they are sinners based on who they love is ridiculous. I think that believing in an ancient text as the true word of God is also ridiculous. We are ALL sinners in some form or another if you believe in all that. No one is perfect and no one sin is worse than another.
The person who mentioned the bit about the Jews wanting to populate the earth is more on target than the "word of God" which is subjective at best. The only reason it was a "sin" to be with someone of the same sex is because they needed an army to rise up and defeat so-and-so. Gay sex doesn't produce off-spring so make it bad and evil so that we'll have more babies! Great idea!
(Bible-thumpers need to learn to take things in context. Something that was said 2000 years ago might not really make sense in today's day and age. We can all learn some good lessons about how to treat each other with love and kindness from the Bible, but that doesn't mean that every single thing mentioned in that book holds true anymore.)
And the last thing we need these days is more and more babies. We seem to have plenty of people around right now and plenty of unwanted, unloved, homeless children that need to be adopted. So I support gay love! This poor earth is having some difficulties in sustaining the sheer amount of humans on the globe. What better population control than encouraging homosexuality?!
Also, why is it ok for a woman who is raped to bring another unwanted child into this world (pro-lifers) but bad for two people who truly love each other to be together? Geesh. Our priorities are all screwed up.

No. If you're homophobic and hate gays then you are being hateful and mean. But if you just disagree with the lifestyle and and don't hate the gay people, it's fine. You can believe whatever you want. At the end of the day we all have prejudices, it's just whether or not you act on them. Acting upon them, like going and beating up a gay person, makes you a bigot.
As far as promoting the gay agenda, you're not. Only God can judge those people, we can't.

So by believing what GOD says in regards to Gay Lifestyle I'm not promoting discrimination or am I.?

Yes, you are. You are trying to stop two people who love each other from marrying because of their gender. It's just as bad as stopping two people who love each other from marrying because they are not the same race...

I feel like I'm allowing Discrimination to happen if I do anything to stop it, I'm promoting what God deems as wrong.

No, you will not be promoting it, you will be standing up against descrimination, not standing up for gay rights...

Unless you've heard the voice of God directly into your ears, I'd be a little wary of believing that I know exactly what God thinks about being gay, as opposed to knowing only the interpretation of those writing thousands of years ago was.

But if you believe that the Bible is the literal truth I would suggest you take to heart the Biblical admonition to "Judge not lest ye be judged."

And btw -- it's not the Gay Lifestyle. It's not necessary to capitalize gay or lifestyle. And it's not a lifestyle choice like choosing to drive an SUV or live in a city. It's the way you are born, like hair color or skin tone.

No, that is not descrimination, that is stating you believe sodomy and homosexual sex is against the teachings of God. I imagine you are accepting of everyone and show respect to all God's children, if you are Christian at least. You do not judge the person, because judgment is reserved for God. Also, I'm not sure it is your position to "stop it", because it isn't going to happen. I think you will find more success if you preach regarding the joys you have experienced living your life as you do, that you have been blessed because of your choices, and that happiness does follow those who follow Christ. Do not put others down, but be an example. Christ accepted everyone and converted by example.

In my opinion, yes. You are perpetuating discrimination which, based on the wording of your question, I suspect you know is wrong. How do you KNOW that God thinks being gay is wrong?? (I'm going to assume you're Christian because the majority of the world is) How can you be sure that the Bible was translated correctly?? Think for yourself. Don't let others dictate your thoughts. Do what you know is right.

We all worry far too much about what the other guy is doing. It's a good excuse not to look inward and deal with our own short comings. I'm not a judge, and I lost my God license last week, so I'll leave this one alone. It's all I can do to just deal with my own life. If someone is gay, I just don't see how that effects my life. (To notyou331, if you thought of all this yourself, you truly have a brilliant mind.)

Jesus Christ made it clear that we shouldn't judge others; that is, we shouldn't condemn others to hell. It is His right to decide where someone will finally end up. Nevertheless, we are supposed to decide for ourselves what's right and wrong (and do what's right!) I agree with you that homosexual behavior is wrong. However, we shouldn't react to others who engage in behaviors that we think are sinful by judging them. We should follow the example of Jesus Christ: he spent his time with publicans and sinners, loving them, healing them, and helping them. It is possible to love people who engage in behavior we don't agree with. After all, we are basically all sinners; it's just that the sins of some are more visible than the sins of others.

Once I saw an anti-gay protest on television and I saw a minister, complete with black shirt and white collar, chanting, "God hates gays!" I thought that was so sad.

The anti-gay stuff in leviticus is due to the jewish tribes wanting to increase their numbers by divinely mandating procreative sex. It then appears in the NT b/c Paul (Saul of Tarsus) wrote letters to the early christian communities; he was a product of his jewish culture's conditioning. It has NOTHING to do with God -- it's like saying that God will reward an Islamic terrorist for killing people. It's all just what people make up. Period.
