Hemostats are curved ended clams. They have handles like scissors, but they can not be used to cut anything.

A hemostat is a surgical tool which resembles a set of scissors with a locking clamp on it. They are used in surgery to control bleeding, as in by clamping it on a blood vessel.

They do NOT work like scissors. Unless you are a veterinarian or doctor, I don't see any reason why you would have use for hemostats.

Hemostats are used to clamp off specific areas - Doctors use them in surgery - you can use hemostats to clamp off the umbilical cord and then cut the cord with a sterile scissors.

Hemostats resemble long-nosed pliers. They have narrow serrated jaws with tapered, rounded tips. A ratchet mechanism between the handles holds the jaws locked in the closed position. Pushing the handles together and slightly apart releases them.

A hemostat, also called a hemostatic clamp is a surgical tool which resembles a set of scissors with a locking clamp replacing the blade.
