Wouldn't it be great to turn the clock back to a time when the most dangerous threat to the world was a man called Fidel, with cigar sitting on a small island just off the Florida coast ?

Lol. Too bad they never existed. Part of that threat was the threat of nuclear annihilation. And of course worldwide, terrorism has been a threat for over a hundred years. Before that, disease was a huge threat. The 'good old days' are just a myth. Imagine a world with antibiotics, clean water, air-conditioning, air travel, vaccines, fertilizer, electricity, computers, etc. Every age has its problems, but on the whole humanity is better off today than it was even 25 years ago.

You seem to have forgotten the USSR and USA, with long range bombers, nuclear submarines and ICBM's, the Red Chinese with a 20,000,000 man army, etc.
