I have Acuvue 2 Soft Conact Lenses. I wear them only during the day...and about 6-8 hours into wearing them, pink eye develops. This pink eye is unusual though - there is no burning or it does not hurt. It's just really red and there is some discharge.

I'm sure you will get many replies telling you to wear glasses instead. But there may be some truth to it. Without seeing how you clean your hands and lenses it is difficult to pinpoint how the bacteria is getting into your eye. Just remember, your contacts have to be sterile and anything that touches them before they go in your eye should be sterile also.

And are you sure it is pink eye (conjunctivitis)? You should see your opthamologist as soon as possible. It is difficult to self-diagnose eye problems. And the penalties for misdiagnosis are very high.

You have some type of bacteria on the contacts that you aren't cleaning off. Talk to your eye doctor about a product to sanitize them or get a new pair of contacts. In the meantime---just wear your glasses.

You may be reinfecting yourself if you are using the same contacts. Once they have pink eye on them, throw them away. Wear your glasses until you get the pink eye cleared up. Contact your eye doctor for a prescription for the pink eye. Once it clears up you can wear your contacts again.
