I have recently considered dying my hair black, but I think I might look goth or emo, and I REALLY hate it when people label me.
what would you think of me if I dyed me hair black?

I wouldn't be as concerned of being labeled as you should be about messing up your hair. Black dye is very hard on your hair and difficult to change after you've done it - you have to grow it out or get it stripped out. Go with dark brown first - it almost looks black and isn't as bad on your hair.

You'll only be labeled if you dress and/or wear your hair like a goth or emo, in addition to the dark hair.

If you don't change anything else about yourself, then these labels probably won't be applied to you by anyone who knows what they're talking about just because you have black hair. Honestly, they'll probably find SOMETHING to make fun of you for no matter what you do- such is the way of the world.

If it really bothers you to be called these things, buy some poetry by Ginzberg or be seen reading Jack Kerouac, and tell them you're a beatnik. The'll have to look it up, and it'll be too much trouble, and they'll shut up after that, with any luck.

i do no longer think of that's what emo is all approximately, you're able to be conversing concerning the goth childrens from warm subject rely a fashion which will exist continuously. What occurred to Dashboard Confessional and From Autumn to Ashes it particularly is extra "Emo"

I think that if black hair suites your skin complexion, then you should get it done. And i know that goths wear a lot of black, so don't wear any black to tell everyone that you are not a goth

I would think that you didn't think that one through all the way.The long term effects of dying your hair black are so not worth it.If you ever want it taken out before it is done growing out, you will have to have ur hair stripped to have it all removed.then bleached to have the grey taken out.then redyed to look a normal color.it's very damaging. And leaving it in is the same. And if you take the safe way of letting it grow out, your hair will just look awful until it's all grown out.

i think you'll look great with black hair. very stylin'.
don't mind anyone else. you know whats going on and so do your friends. these people don't know you or why you dyed your hair black and its not there problem. besides after a while everyone will get used to you with black hair and no one will care about labling you.
i say go ahead and dye your hair.!!! :)

I'd say think carefully before doing it. My best friend has pale skin and blue eyes and she dyed her hair electric black and it looked BAD!........and she got labled as a goth when she did.....go for dark dark brown ......it's nearly black but natural...

I would think you had pretty hair, I hate when people put labels on me as well.
Just dye you hair if that's what you want and ignore any comments by small minded people.
Be yourself do what ever you want.

if you have fair skin you won't be able to help looking washed out...maybe slowly ease into it by going for a deep brown and get deeper as you and those around you get used to it..then it will seem more natural and less of a shock also if you start off slowly like this if you don't like it there is less to strip out by the stylist if she has to fix it.
