If you are very concerned, you should see your doctor first! I hope this helps, I've listed the most common products and explained what I think of them. I used to work in a Pharmacy, and have an interest in skin care. If you need more help, let me know!
Freederm tackles inflamation, tenderness and redness, so it is likely to be the best treatment for your acne. It is available at pharmacies.
Quinoderm creams are combination products and are very strong - they are very good all-rounders, but the freederm is a new type of cream that is usually better for redness. It is available at pharmacies.
Mederma is a cream for scarring and it sounds more like you are suffering from general redness. If scaring is a problem, Mederma could help. It is available at pharmacies.
Most Clearasil products work on killing the spot causing bacteria, and may help, but Quinoderm and Freederm are stronger. It is available on the shop floor in supermarkets.
Proactiv is a set of new products - cleanser, toner and lotions, and I am doubtful that it would work for you if you do have acne. It can be good for general skin care.
It may also be worth reviewing your skincare regime.
1 Facial cleansing routine
Good cleansing is essential, and will help to remove dirt and impurities that clog skin pores. Take five minutes in the morning and at night to cleanse. Do not scrub your skin or use harsh abrasives, and avoid alcohol based cleansers. Remember to use warm water instead of hot water which can aggravate the oil glands in the skin and cause more spots. It is also recommended to avoid using oily cleansing creams that can leave a greasy film on the skin. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Toners or skin fresheners can be used afterwards but try not to use them excessively. Try a few different cleansers to find one that suits your skin, and try to avoid perfumed ones.
2 If your skin is dry
Applying the cream you choose in the morning and a moisturiser at night. Use a water-based moisturiser, as greasy or oily creams can block the pores.
3 Stick at it
You need to give your cream a chance to work. It takes longer for some people - you should stick to one cream for 2 months before trying a new one.
4 Try not to pick or squeeze spots
Try very hard not to pick or squeeze your spots (or even touch too much). It will just make them worse.
5 Diet and Exercise
Drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day to keep you hydrated. Chocolate and fats don't cause acne, but by eating healthily and having 5 portions of fruit and veg will keep your system on top form, making outbreaks less likely.
And one tip that I find people often forget, is to wash your hands often and avoid touching your face. Don't rest your cheek or chin on your hand for example - when you touch your face, you are getting loads of bacteria onto the skin which can cause more outbreaks. Also, remember to wash hands thoroughly before putting the cream on.

Try using Tea Tree oil. It's a natural antibacterial agent that helps fight acne. It won't tell you that on the bottle though. Acne is caused by bacteria in the pores so open them up with warm water as you wash your face, then put on the tea tree oil (do not dilute) and then after it dries put on a moisturizer.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:
