If the pain does not decrease with the therapy and exercies, ask your doctor to refer you to a neurologist. Have you had a MRI? This can show the doctors if the bulge is pushing on any nerves that may cause the pain as well as numbness in your legs.

I feel sorry for you. Injuries like that are hard to get over. I would recommend a Chiropractor if you get it paid for. It is a condition where the soft jelly-like padding between the disks in your spine are not in line anymore but have lost some of the cushioning and are like the word says, bulging and this allows the bone to touch or rub, then possibly the nerves and tendons to be inflamed. The extent of the damage can be minor to major but, only time and sometimes not even that will help. Sorry to say that. I would try anything besides surgery first. Mostly don't do anything to make it worse. The exercises you did at therapy can help. Ice placed on the area helps the inflammation and heat soothes. Epsom salt baths help it feel better at night, to rest. Then just be patient. Taking anti inflammatory drugs can help just be careful of your stomach. Also, massage can sometimes help the symptoms of pain in the other areas of your body that are affected by this trauma. I wish you luck. Pain is what I live with every day and it wears on you.
Don't settle if you went to court, don't sign away anything medical because you may need care for a long time. I hope not and send prayers your way. Good luck. Good, the neurologist will send you for a Myelogram if he feels it's bad to see just what the bones are doing. MRI only shows soft tissue. Bless you. Drink lots of water when you can to try to keep as much fluid as you can. The disks are full of liquid substance and yours must have leaked out. I'm glad you are going. Good luck. Again.

You may have to go to a back surgeon to get it repaired. But first, go to a pain management specialist to see if they can do a transforiminal injection in your spine to relieve the pain.
