It's also big in Greece, incl. icy frappes. However, I don't believe it's sold in the U.S. I include a recipe that ran in our newspaper shortly after we returned, mainly for the note below ..

GREEK FRAPPE
(1 serving)

3 teaspoons instant coffee, preferably Nescafe (see note)
Sugar to taste
Milk (optional)

Half-fill a tall glass with ice cubes. In a cocktail shaker or a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine 1 inch of cold water, instant coffee, 2 or 3 ice cubes, and sugar. (2 teaspoons is metrios is medium sweet and 3 teaspoons is glykos, or sweet).

Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds, until very foamy. Pour into glass and top off with cold water, adding milk if desired. Serve immediately, with a straw for stirring the sugar.

Note: Greek Nescafe is stronger than the American version; this recipe has been adjusted for American instant coffee. If using Greek or European instant coffee, use less.

Are those the little cups of coffee that you put in a special machine that makes one cup at a time? If so, I think krups sells those under the "nespresso" name.

I would think that restaurant suppliers also sell them. I think my dentist had one of those machines in his office.
