Don't do dinner and a movie. That's so cliche and shows so little imagination. Unless you've already gone out 20+ times or so.
Do something simple and low-key but fun, like a coffee house in your neighborhood with cool places nearby that you can show her. Take her into your world.

I guess it really depends on if the other person likes hockey. If not, a good restaurant would be a good idea.

depends on the person. I would think it's cool, but some girls might like the whole dinner/movie thing. Take her to some place that you like though. That will show her who you are.
