I am a soc major who has an interest and career goal in helping women and children. Where can I find experience in this subject volunteer or part time work. I work in an ER as a CNA and have previous paid experience working in and OB .

I think the obvious answer is your local abused women's shelter.

Check with your local Community Action Agency. CAA's administrate over 90% of all Community Block Grants in the US, and often have MANY different programs available, or they are in contact with others that offer services. They should be able to help you find a match for your talents, and goals.

Helping woman and children with what? Learning to read? Volunteer at the library. How to get away from an abusive spouse? Volunteer at your local woman's shelter. How to get off welfare? Volunteer at the welfare office.

Child abuse, domestic violence agencies, homeless shelters and your local police are all good starts. See if your college offers internships....Good luck

we have "centers" for drug recovering moms and their kids here.
you need to delve into the nonprofit system to find it.
there are food pantrys galore around here looking for volunteers.
