I think 30 days is more than appropriate. Two weeks is standard, so you are being generous by giving him 30 days, so even if he is scary, he should appreciate that. If not, he does fire you, but you won't lose your job too soon. Also, if he does fire you, you should contact the EEOC and file a complaint.

Check with HR to see what your maternity leave options are. You may have some paid time off. You don't have to decide until after you have the baby. You are still an employee on the clock or not. Either after you use the paid time you have or you're about to go to work, let them know your decision.
Good luck and don't let anyone make you feel bad about your decision to be an at-home-mom.

Wait til exactly 2 weeks before telling him. This is the general practice in the business world. If he's a complete prick, just tell him you quit the day that you have set to quit. If he was going to fire you, would he give you notice?

You are entitled to maternity leave or freedom to quit and look after your baby. However scary your boss might be , he will have to get used to the idea. Am sure he will be expecting if your pregnancy shows. Count three and burst into his office, he might surprise you actually.

Just give the boss your 2 weeks notice and you will be fine. It is against the law to get fired for being pregnant! Good luck and congratulations.

It depends on local law how much notice you are required to give.
However, I do believe that in most places you can give notice while you are on leave (surely you get *some* leave?) If so I would tell him when you are going on leave, and then once you are on leave send him a letter and phone a few days later to discuss it with him.
He can't do anything once you are gone.

Put your two week notice in two weeks before you intend to quit. He will probably make your life miserable (I know mine would) You don't want to walk without giving a notice. It looks bad to future employers. Good luck.

I'd give them as much advance notice as possible. Especially, if your position is hard to replace. Good luck in your new career!

You should always give a two week period when you are wanting to quit.. Just let him know what you want to do and he will have to take it .. cause you are fixing to have this baby.
good luck
