Are you trying to fit him in an infant seat? My son was a huge baby too and I had to get him a regular carseat when he was 4 months.

Also, he probably shouldn't wear a big coat like that in the car. He will overheat or start sweating and then he'll be all sweaty and get out into the cold.

Dress him in layers so that you can put the big coat on before you take him out of the car.

Much bigger children then 37 lbs ride in carseats so you should be able to find a solution pretty easily.

How old is your son? If he is over 2 you could get the booster type seat that has the 5 point harness. I have the same problem with our 1 yr old, so we usually just put a fleece jacket on her. It keeps her warm for now. Good luck, and dont people know that carseats dont come in size "small" or "large"????

1 get a new carseat, one where the seatbelt in your car goes across his chest and lap just like with you.

2. When carseats are tested they are tested WITHOUT the dummies having coats and jackets on them. Because each coat is different the government advises that you take your children's coats and jackets off when they ride in carseats. This may sound odd but that is how it is meant to be. Blankets are advised against as well.

When my son was an infant we had both out pedis (moved from one state to another when he was 3 months old) and the professional carseat installers all tell us to make sure our car was very warm before we put baby in and once he was in to take off his jackets and buckle him back up.

Check with your pedi and your carseat manual for proper care instructions.

Putting your baby in the carseat with his jacket on will make it less safe because the harness will not fit properly. You should remove the jacket while he's in the car and cover his legs with a blanket (over the straps of course) if it's especially cold.

I take the jacket off if the seat straps are to the maximum let-out length. Warm your car up a few minutes before you are ready to get in, then get to the car, take off the jacket, and get into the seat. No point in trying to squeeze them in if they won't fit with the jacket on- just take it off and put it back on when you get where you are going.

Car seat straps should be snug, so snug you cannot pinch any of it up. Any coat bulkier than a fleece is dangerous to wear in a car seat, or even standard seatbelt. One thing you can do is remove the coat when you buckle your son in, then after bucking put the coat on him backwards so his arms and belly are covered. Or, keep warm blankets in the car.

i does not say switched over rather. yet easily one of my proper acquaintances and the guitarist for our band now did not comprehend a lot in any respect about punk or pre-punk when I met him. He turned right into a extraordinarily massive metallic head, nonetheless is to be honest, yet he had a not difficulty-free time appreciating issues that weren't as problematic and quick and technical as Slayer or Megadeth or Sepaltura, yet with the help of the years considering music is a tremendous component to both our lives we uncovered one yet another to our own musical tastes. and considering then he's rather realized that some nicely placed chords or an difficulty-free yet catchy progression is worth each and every of the skill contained in the international. even although that he nonetheless analyze up on each and every thing and is ridiculously sturdy at guitar of any kind, the music he writes himself is almost continually a cool riff or progression and his CD sequence has a extraordinarily large punk component to it. And in tunr i have taken a liking to a number of his metallic, even although that I nonetheless can't stand something with gruesome gruff vocals, like Sepultura or that variety of ingredient. I have in spite of the indisputable fact that taken a wierd liking to the CD Reign In Blood with the help of Slayer, do not comprehend why.

Try adjusting the car seats straps they are located in the back of the carseat usually. Or try putting a sweater on your son until you get where you need to go. Or the alternative is to get a bigger car seat

Even though I hate the thought of taking my childs coat off when its cold car seats are not designed to wear coats in. 37 pounds is pretty big. Have you thought about trying a booster seat with the five point harness? Some of them go up to 100 pounds. It is hard as a parent to know what to do, freeze you child to buckle him correctly, or not buckle him correctly and leave his coat on. I honostly done it both ways. Good Luck.
