7-14 days they say. As far as when it is contagious it is a virus and is spread by sneezing, coughing and not washing hands. It's contagious as soon as you come in contact with the germ. This doesn't mean that you will get the cold, most people with a healthy immune system can ward off the common cold. However, if your immune system is depleted it will normally take a good hold of ya. I hope this answers your question.

All viruses have an incubation period and the cold is contageous before you know you have it in most cases, at least before you feel lousy and stay home. So, when you have a fever, when you cough, when you are not on an antibiotic it can be from 5-7 days all together. If on antibiotic you are not contageous after the first 72 hrs. on it. So, keeping your breathing air to yourself is good. Washing hands often. Most viruses are spread through touching, like door knobs and public sinks and private, if at home, and then touching your face, nose or mouth. I always throw hot soapy water over the handles of my sink after washing my hands to cut down on germs. Also, making sure the dishes you use are disinfected is a good thing. A little bleach in the water or a dishwasher does the trick. I hope this helped some.

you're nevertheless contagious 7-10 days when you caught the virus - which could be approximately 3-5 days when you start up feeling crummy. If he's no longer working a fever, and isn't any longer coughing and would wipe his nostril and wash his arms, he would desire to be waiting to circulate returned.

the common cold is contagiious all the year. is a virus, and have 80 types of it. as the other person sayd 7-14 days. for example, if you had types 123456, and your sister only 12345, and now she has type 6, you wont get cold bcz now you have the antibodies for that type. so is only contaious if you never had that type of cold, bcz you dont have the antibodies. hope you understood.
