Ummm... I'm going to ignore the Trolly aspects of this post and answer it as if it were a real question.

A lot of Americans do, yes, but more of them don't. It's funny to me that the foreign perception of the United States is of a bunch of religious zealots just because our president happens to be one. Turn it around: Americans don't assume that all French are corrupt, all Russians are borderline fascist, all Iranians are fundamentalist nutjobs, all Bolivians are coca farmers, all Egyptians are Arab nationalists, or all Finnish people look like Conan O'Brien. Back when the Taliban was in power, we recognized that not all Afghans were radical Islamists. That's why we allied with the ones who weren't.

So why is it so hard for the rest of the world to see America as a country of individuals?

I think a large percentage of Americans (probably about half) believes that God has blessed us. I am one of those people. But within that group, there is a large portion that believes those blessings are not guaranteed. When America turns its back on God - as I believe it has under the current administration - I believe God will turn its back on America. He already did once before, in the 1850s. We continued to enslave our fellow men, and we were engulfed in civil war as a result. Those lessons seemed to be lost until last month.

In the most recent election, an overwhelmingly large majority of Americans voted against the Republican party. Many of those voting against them were, in fact, Christians who are sick of seeing our religion exploited by people like the president and his allies. We don't have a problem with wars of necessity like Afghanistan... but we do have a problem with being lied to, told that we were in imminent danger when we in fact were not.

There is nothing Christian about the war we waged on Iraq. Their dictator was a horrible man, and he deserved to be deposed, but the violent and haphazard way we went about it has cost the Iraqi people a great deal of suffering. Will God punish us for it? Undoubtedly, he already has. Will he punish us more? I hope we can use the 2008 election to turn the direction of the country around, and regain his graces.

Yes, there are American Christians who consider our blessings an inalienable right granted by God in exchange for, I don't know, being a democracy or something. I've never really understood them.

But there are also American Christians who believe that God will only be on our side when we are the good guys, not just the lesser of two evils.

(P.S. We're not going to apologize for Korea. Go to South Korea, then go to North Korea and try to tell us what we did was wrong. And as for the Philippines, we inherited them from another power, developed their government and infrastructure, and then gave them freedom. Sure it took a while, but I'm not sure how we compare negatively with any other colonial power in history.)

What does God have anything to do with that? The American policies is based on the American people, and our government. Eating Big Macs and getting fat has absolutely nothing to do with God.

As for the wars. Hey. We saved a bunch of millions of lives. DId you know in Vietnam, we fed the Vietnamese? We sent over nearly 3 million refugees from vietnam who were under attack by their OWN government to the US to have a better life? Then another 2 million went to European countries.

In the Persian Gulf War we were trying to protect borders of our allies.

As for Japan and the atomic bombs. If you don't touch the American homeland, we won't touch yours. As far as I'm concerned. Japan, bombed Pearl Habor FIRST. The US wasn't even IN WWII until Japan bombed us. If the Japanese government had cooperated none of that would have happened.

As for Iraq we are trying to bring down their dictarship..and give them democracy thank you. Stop listening to the news. What about the thousands of girls who get to go to school now because the US invaded? What about the schools being rebuilt? Cities destroyed by Sadam Hussein being built? HMMMMM??? I don't see you mentioning those.

That is the thing about God. He is always on your side no matter how He feels about your actions. Maybe a better question would be, do you think God approves of your actions and opinions as an American. But since the country is divided you can't lump us all together. So a better question would be. If you are in favor of the war, how can you say that God Blesses You as an American. The bible says that God sends rain to the wicked for their fields as well as the righteous. So I guess that you could say that God loves us all and blesses us in spite of our failures and ignorance and bad deads. You know everybody commits bad acts and you may be by passing judgement on people as God reserves that right for himself. I hope that we get out of Iraq soon and that those people get a better government with more freedoms than before and that we open dialogue with Iran and Syria to help them. Since we are there we can't just leave them now in the chaos we caused.

Let's see, we have freedom, one of the world's best economies, plenty of food, more people wanting to get into our country than there are people wanting to get out of it. We have a politcal system that works (somewhat), and we don't go about killing those of the other political party. Americans give more to help feed those African children than any other country in the world, plus our aid bosters the economy of many other countries. From all of this, I would have to say that God has blessed America. And if you will just read the Bible, you will see that God will use one nation to bring his judgement on another nation for their sin. Maybe we are fulfilling His purposes. I don't know and neither do you. So shut up!!!!

Well for one thing if your going to bash Americans PLEASE learn our history. Second America is the biggest AID Relief country in the world. We give out billions while other country's only give out millions. Were was international aid when Rita an Katrina hit? Were was international relief during the dust bowl? Were was international relief during the great depression? If you want to yell at America fine. But get your facts straight before you talk. Besides America has sent more money to Africa than any other nation period. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Ms. america what difference would it make if we answer fire with fire none. You know for a fact it gets worse and won't get nowhere. there for instead of speaking to you with words without wisdom, We Let you know God Bless You , So you and your family will be bless according to the decisions you make in life: if you submit yourself to God. God loves everyone it doesn't matter what you said , he still loves you the way you are. But is up to you to see yourself where you stand and where you will love to be in the long run. Remeber choose wisely and think twice before you speak. Because the power of words is in the tongue. God Bless you in Jesus name.

That's right...God Bless America. It's not a statement...it is a reqeuest. If you had a general knowledge of the English Language you would see that. Otherwise it would be God Blesses America. You might also want to get a general knowledge of the Old Testement. God told the Jews to go to war and to kill every living thing in the land that he wanted for them. So yes please God Bless America.

Muslims believe they are required to make war on all non-muslims and that the only choices for unbelievers are conversion, surrender and submission, or death. The Muslims are also quite stingy about helping out non-muslims. The hated USA sent more aid to tsunami victims in muslim indonesia than any other nation by a wide margin. And our foreign aid to Africa (and our UN dues) are the highest in the world. Which just goes to prove that fools and their money are soon parted.
