When I had a wood stove, I had a pot that I filled with water,
sliced apples, and cinnamon. The aroma smelled like I was
baking when people came over. Everyone loved it.
Now I have one of those small crockpots that I got at wal-mart
during christmas one year for $5.00 I use it now. It's made to actually cook in (it's not one of those made to to put scents in). It's great because I can use it to cook in when I need to.
You can do this on the stovetop too.

Bath and body works makes great holiday scented oils. The tree kind smells like a fresh cut tree. They have the candles, wall plugs and the oil. You can get Christmas potpourri and sick it in a pot over low heat as well.

I agree the Wunder- you can also put a very small dab (tip of a qtip) on lightbulbs, but don't overdo it! Also on dryer sheets to make laundry smell good. You can also put cinnamon sticks, whole clove, a nutmeg, and orange peel and water on low on a burner, but keep an eye on it so it doesn't boil away and burn.

totally easy and totally cheap. soak real cinnamon sticks in a jar of olive oil with a tight lid for a couple of days... then, just like u put out candles, pour some of the oil in a little bottle with one or two of the sticks standing up in it, put em all over ur house and the smell will permeate the air!! its awesome! if u dont believe me, check out marthastewart.com, haha
