you are being silly - it's fat
everyone likes fat buddha. person who said "no buddha", you are wrong. it's fat buddha. i know he is supposed to have "attained enlightenment" and all, but even the enlightened buddha must still accrue wisdom over time, at some rate, however small. And it is the older buddha who is fat. (He didn't let himself go, it's just that he decided that everything should be in moderation. He thus became moderately fat) (the "superfat" buddha is a creation of Americanized Chinese restaurants.)

It is a contradiction to The Buddha's way of life to have a fat one. I think that the Chinese Buddha is the most commonly accepted version that fat happy character but the Indian Buddha is the original one as his birthright kingdom covered Northern India and Nepal as his life was that of a mendicant priest he would not have a regular diet and I feel that he would be thin and thoughtful so I would go for the Indian Buddha myself. The first Buddha wandered around India living firstly as an aesthetic until he sought the middle way. then he became the Buddha (the enlightened one) and chose the middle way.

maximum Buddha statues are made with the help of community artisans with community inventive impacts, or in spite of the indisputable fact that the artisans comprehend on the time. no one rather comprehend what the Buddha appeared like considering he died round 500BC. Cambodian paintings has continually depicted people in a particular way and so the buddhas appear like Cambodians. The fat buddha we see in chinese eating places isn't buddha yet comparable to a monk from more advantageous than 1000 years in the past.

I love the Hotei Buddha. What a beauty.
I also love Siddharta and have learned so much about restraint from his years. Siddhartha who realized that extreme practices were leading him nowhere, that in fact it might be better to find some middle way between the extremes of the life of luxury and the life of self-mortification. So he ate, and drank, and bathed in the river.
I think Siddharta found the middle way that is so important for us in life. Love Laugh Live, Enjoy...be the Hotei sometimes but most of the time it is best to be Siddharta.

Skinny. Sidhartta was a thin gent, living a life of gentle asceticism for much of his spiritual exploration.
The 'fat buddha' is Hotei, a chinese god of fortune and luck. He is, however, considered a buddha, as one of the Enlightened Ones, but he himself is not THE Buddha.

My favorite Buddha is the fat one that is grinning and has a food bowl raised over his head in his two hands.
I call it the "Happy Food Buddha" and I have a small one in my kitchen.

I like a holographic Buddha who can switch back and forth when I twist him. Materialistically skinny, spiritually fat.
