I'm getting married Halloween of '07. I have a dress picked out and a ring and some of the major details, but I need a place to get married (I don't have a specific religion or church) and I need someone to be the officiant for me. I don't want to just be married, I want a wedding. I want to walk down the isle and be a bride. My wedding is going to be small (about 20 people), but I was wondering if anyone could help with my problem. I also need an opinion on reception/food. Is it worth all of the money or should I just throw a party at my house and have a potluck?

Beach weddings are always pretty and it wont be too terribly cold in october if you do it in florida or somewhere. You could also try a wedding in the mountains and stay at a ski lodge for your honey moon...it really depends on what you like...but yes it is worth it. This will be the happiest day of your life and you can have it as extravagant as you like. I have tons of ideas for wedding themes ( I have always dreamed of being a wedding planner) So if you get stuck you can email me..ill help you find something its just kinda hard to know what to tell you on here with so little info. Congratulations by the way!

I performed weddings for the first time ever in the WEBN haunted house this year.

Contact a cememtary. You can make arrangements to do it outside. I have a friend who is doing one such wedding this weekend as it is a new moon or full moon or something.
Or you could do the ceremony in one of their mausoleums.
Maybe a funeral home would rent you one of their rooms.

There are all kinds of places in which to be married. Brainstorm a bit. And possibly your officiant can help. Type into your search enging your city, state & wedding officiant. You should have a few to check out. Some of us are registered on bridal sites along with the vendors. If you see an officiant you might like, visit their web site. Some of the bridal sites make vendors & officiants pay for "leads" so even tho' you may request info, you may not receive any.

You could also do your wedding at the same place you are having your reception, even yout home or backyard. There are NUMEROUS ways to make this work & at the same time, save you money.

Since you are not have a huge wedding, potluck would be fine. Friends & relatives are always happy to help if they can....well usually.

Oh the possibilities are endless....I LOVE planning weddings and Halloween is my favorite holiday!!! First, the invitations can be printed at home with Wilton card stock from Wal-mart. Choose a font that is gothic and be sure to seal the enveloped with a wax seal.

The perfect time to start would be at sunset, hopefully a full moon will fall near your date. Lots and lots of candles are a nice touch and make up for alot of otherwise expensive decorations.

Of course you can always have everyone come in their choice of costume, or you can choose a theme, like medieval or gothic.

I planned a wedding last Halloween and the bride chose blood red roses and ivy for the bouquet. The flower girl threw delicate faux leaves in burnt orange and dark red instead of flower petals.
The dresses were medieval and the men wore loose white shirts and black pants.

You can search the web for unique additions to your ceremony, such as jumping the broom and the rose ceremony.

You can ask someone at your local courthouse or chamber of commerce for a name of someone who is licensed to offiate. These people are usually non-denominational and can perform the ceremony anywhere you choose.

As far as location, if the weather is still fairly warm where you live, an outdoor location would be ideal...and for a crowd that small, someone's backyard would be ideal. My mother had her wedding last month by the pool at my grandparents house. the theme was moon and stars with midnight blue, silver, and gold. I did all the flowers, bouquets, and decorations myself for a fraction of what we would have paid someone else.

There is a great recipe on Emeril's website called "vampire chicken on a stake, with blood sauce." We had that at the Halloween wedding last year.....with planty of wine and cake.

I'm sure I can think of an ocean of ideas...if you need help, just email me!!!! Congratulations and Good Luck!!!

First of all congrats! If you want the wedding then I wouldn't suggest throwing a party at your house and having a potluck. I think it's horrible to ask your guests to bring food. You're the one giving the party and your guests will expect the food be provided. Why don't you try a local restaurant. Most have a banquet room and since your wedding is small the costs will be low. Good Luck! Try looking at theknot.com they have a lot of useful advice.

if youre having like a halloween wedding...thats lots of fun..you can always decorate with pumpkins, fall colors, black rose petals, you can find like a gothic style church for the ceremony. but i say..if its a small wedding like that..something more intimate like you say at your house might be nice. just have a buffet style. you could even cook to save lots of money. GOOD LUCK! and CONGRATS!
