i think you mean that there are no dash lights,if so check the fuses in the fuse box, escorts suffer with burnt fuseboxes, switchs fail if you have no rear tail lights its the switch at fault.the wiper switch and the head light switch are combined, the indicator stalk IS the headlight switch.

It may not be the headlight switch thats the problem, have you checked the fuses, also there is a dash light dimmer control on the dashboard it may appear as a rotary knob or a sliding scale.
All else fails try reading the owners manual that came with the car.

if your dash lights are out then, it usually means yr side light switch is gone.

it can be repaired but it's a whole lot easier to replace the whole set.

all the switch arms are in one unit it's easy to remove. put yr side lights on then check if the lights front and back are working, if they're not email me and I'll explain what you need to do.

George, circumvent guy stated all of it. verify the reostsat on the headlight swap, this brightens or dims the tool lighting fixtures fixtures by using turning it clockwise then counter clockwise. If it doesnt impression the lighting fixtures fixtures, seize the qwners handbook and look for the excellent fuse, if the fuse isnt blown that's relatively helpful to learn the frenzy pull swap, the wiring would desire to be undesirable to those lighting fixtures fixtures or it would desire to be the swap itself. desire this helps.
