Do Christians want the world to end? And if so, are people who want the world to end the best people to have in government for solving problems like global warming, over population etc.. what motivation would a person who is looking forward to the end of the world have to solve such problems?

Sad to say there are indeed a fair number of Christians who see the "end of the world" coming soon and with great joy. For some of these folks, every large-scale catastrophe is a positive sign of "end times" and they think each one brings them closer to paradise.

I would say that Christians are not looking for the "end of the world," but more like the "end of the system of things." Why? Because, the systems in the Earth have caused nothing but misery for most of the worlds population throughout history. There has never been a sufficiently benevolent government. There has never been any equality. Not enough water, food, shelter, etc. for everyone to live comfortably, and we're also ruining the Earth in the process. Man "can not" rule themselves. We do need something more superior to guide us properly.
The Bible promises a great change in the future, for the betterment of humanity. If true, then it would be in our best interest to put our faith in what's to come, then to try to fix ourselves, what's really unfixable.

Personally, I don't. I'd rather see the world get sorted out at least a little before the end of the world. The motivation of anyone to solve those problems it to stop the suffering it's causes.

Ya sure but that doesent meen that i can bring about the end of the world. And i dont know if youve noticed but the people in government arent typically religious people. Your trying to make people feel better not tear the world down around you. Christians also are supposed to treat others like they want to be treated and be respectful and help the poor. I think that your statement is misguided.

Yes, Christians want the end to come. Yes we want wealth, Yes we want health... Yes want a lot of things, we have some of them, but that doesn't mean that we ignore everything else to get what we want. We also know that the end will come when it does and there in nothing we can do to speed it up or force God to come before His planned time. So why would a man that knows all that be any different a leader as to all the problems you listed? Jim

I'm Christian and I'm not necessarily looking for the end of this mortal world just yet becuz I still have lots to learn to get closer to my God.

Anyone who wants the destruction of this Earth before it's time is highly unsuitable as a leader or Representative of any man or society.

That's just is anyone wanting the end of the world now doesn't have any motivation to live their fullest in all sense of the word. They r poor individuals miserable in their own griefs.

We live in this world and so we must make the best of it. I do want Jesus to come back soon, but I'm not giving up on life here on earth. God gave me this life for a purpose, and it's my duty to fulfill it.

We are to occupy until Christ's return. Of course we want Christ to return, as He will make all things renewed. Imagine paradise for everyone... I'm on board with that. What in the world is wrong with wanting eternal paradise?
