Yes, grapes, currants, sultana and raisins (which are only dried grapes after all) can be harmful to dogs. There is a poison in them which the dog cannot secrete so the poison can build up in their system until it kills them. Chocolate (other than special dog chocolate) can also act in a similar manner.
Having said that, I cannot imagine that two or three grapes can do much harm, as long as you make sure that they don't have any more.

My Springer Spaniel used to like grapes - I'd only give him one or so at a time and he was fine.
I've never heard of it causing a problem and I don't think the quantity that your dog has eaten will do any harm.
If the dog starts vomiting, gets an upset stomach or any other unusual, worrying symptoms take him/her straight to the vet though.

Yes they are ,you should call a vet.So is Chocolate. You might give him a syringe full of Hydrogen Peroxide yes the kind you clean wounds with. This will make him vomit the grapes up.If you don't have a needle syringe use the turkey baster anything to get it down him.Good Luck Honey if you don't use this now maybe helpful in the future.

I recall reading something about grapes being bad for dogs.

You should go to the ASPCA web site and check it out. They have a lot of links for pet owners that answer questions like this. They also have links to the pet poison hot line in case your pet gets sick.

Or, you could ask your vet.

no not just 3-4. Labs are like walking dustbins, trust me! Fruit and vegetables will cause no problems and can add variety to the diet, just don't over do it. Ours liked to eat tinned cat food, including chewing the can !!

That's what they say, but I know many who feed them with absolutely no problems. Like most of the "dangerous" foods, it depends on the size of dog and how much they consume. If your yorkie eats one, I might consider the vet. If you lab eats one, I would save the vet visit.

Raisins are, but no one knows why they cause renal failure in some dogs. I'd avoid all raisin-grapes just in case.
