I always thought of it as when one person draws conclusions about another person's heart/thoughts/mind/motivations/intentions/etc. without any possible way of knowing any such thing about them.

Case in point...

"They fear being "formed" into something other than what their evil, carnal and devilish desires are. Believers scare the crap out of them so much that they feel they need to call them "crazy" or illogical, or whatever."

How does this person have any way of knowing how other people think or what's in their hearts and minds to the point that she can such a judgment?

Is this what Jesus would have her say?

I realize that not all Christians say such things. But I also realize that your holy text tells you to correct your own, and rarely do I see anyone correcting the judgment statements from their fellow Christians that are made repeatedly here.

Sandy... so it's "discernment" to label an entire group of people as if you have any way of knowing that they have "evil" and "devilish" motivations?

John 12:48
There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day.

John 5:22
Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son,

Jeremiah 17:10
"I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

-There will be 2 separate judgments- one for sinners who never repented and believed in Jesus Christ and one for christians- however the judgment is different for christians- we are not judged by sin, because we are forgiven through Jesus Christ.
See Revelation 19.

-But Jesus Christ is the judge- and those who are saved in Him are not to judge anyone- except themselves and to hold other christians accountable and confront them if they are in sin.

The instance you have provided as an example is discernment and speculation, which could fall under the rubric of "judgment," but it isn't judgment per se.

One must discern in the world. One also can speculate, if one so chooses. This doesn't make the speculation necessarily accurate, but it also doesn't make it necessarily inaccurate. That is why it is called "speculation."

The judgment of God is his judgment of our souls. This is what we Christians are not to enter into. It is God's business and not ours...and rightly so. The person you are talking about here is not judging another's soul. He or she is discerning people's statements and also making some speculations.

As for "rarely do I see anyone correcting the judgment statements from their fellow Christians," keep in mind two things. First, if a Christian posts a question, to which I may reply, wherein he or she is passing true judgment on others, you bet I'll correct them if I see the question. Along with this, if a Christian is posting a soul-judging answer, it's not their question, so there's no way to "correct" them except by voting with the thumbs rating. Second, perhaps you haven't been around long enough to see certain Christians correcting other Christians. I have seen it a number of times. Maybe you're not looking.

But anyway, do keep in mind the difference between discernment and judgment.

To answer your additional comment: No, it's not discernment. It's speculation.

Don't go by the Christian definition or opinion of judgement. They have a rather biased and negative view of it. They are all about judging others while claiming they aren't. They won't admit that judgement is a good thing. Instead, they try to splice the words by saying that "judgement" is bad while "decernment" is good, even though they mean the same thing. They talk about tolerance and love of enemies, up to the point they give up on converting them. Then it is the wrath of God, pearls before swine, and being "unequally yoked".

hi that's what faith is. Having a solid perception in something, including Christianity whether it has no longer been thoroughly shown, although, having have confidence in the failings that are there to coach gods existence, such because of the fact the bible and jesus' teachings. If there exchange into absolute evidence that god existed, then the entire concept of having faith in a supernatural skill would be lost, as you will discover alot of folk believing in god purely because of the fact there is absolute evidence, no longer because of the fact they have absolute faith and that they might fail to understand the entire which potential in the back of the Christian faith. So, in result, christians are in actuality saved because of the fact they nonetheless have confidence and have a real and existence long faith, regardless of all this banter approximately having evidence, and those are the folk who've fairly understood the be attentive to god and the assumption of religion. you assert that understanding demands info, and that christians are no longer saved because of the fact there perception isn't in keeping with info, whilst in actuality, the bible is info of there being a god, besides as each and all the organic artistic endeavors of the worldwide and the universe which nonetheless can not be shown by modern-day technological information. no longer forgetting that, in the old testomony, the arrival of Jesus exchange into prophesied by between 50 and 60 prophets spanning over a hundred's of years of existence ultimately, do no longer forget, that the huge bang is merely a theory and in a similar way, scientist have self assurance in this perception because of the fact there is not any authentic no longer common info that the huge bang occurred, merely info, and, as I even have suggested, the bible and Jesus' teachings are info aswell

I'm a buddhist, but for me judgement is dualism.. It is discrimination, the separation of one thing, or person to another... Unfortunately, out society needs judges, because of crime and war, etc.. but the way i see it, is that every person wants happiness, and no one wants suffering, they all try to find happiness in their own ways.. pretty much tho, judgement is separation/discrimination of one object/subject to another, without realizing the connection between the two.. basically ignorance in some part..

Fundamitalist of all religions use their supposed faith to manipulate others. Not all do that, but way too many do so. People in America have to a great degree given to much faith in free enterprize, nothing is free despite free parking which does not come with a 200 dollar bonus.

All you have to do is look in the dictionary under 'judgment' and you'll find the definition for christianity.

Formal definition:

1 a : a formal utterance of an authoritative opinion b : an opinion so pronounced.

I rest my case.

I completely disagree with Sandy. It is not Discernment when an entire group of "Christians" decide for themselves to condemn another group of people. It is judgment. The Southern Baptist Convention has decided that gay people are sinners and they are not welcome to worship in their churches. That is judgment not discernment. Discernment is to recognize as different but it does not act to banish those who are different from you, that is judgment.

In some places in the Bible the word judge could have better been translated condemn.
Christians are not to condemn.
But they are commanded judge their own sins.
I agree that some Christians are far too judgemental.

Judgement is when God asks you to account for your actions.

If we were not ordained by the law to "judge" we should only judge things, not our place to judge people.
