Consult with an ID, an infectious disease medical practitioner. You may not have the bug you think you do, or, you may have a highly resistant strain. As an RN, I HIGHLY recommend this. You shouldn't have to suffer with this. I hate bugs.

Jock itch can be cured by using Tinantin Spray.
Sweat causes it which creates a bacteria around the hair folicles and causes the burning and itching.
It's important to keep the area clean and dry and use the spray on a regular basis especially during the summer.
Jock itch is not under your arms. That is heat. Keep it clean and use a powder underarm deoderant.
Jock itch is in a man's lower extremities caused by heat, sitting for a long time like a trucker, etc.

I don't know about local but if you put anti fungal powder and apply it 3 times daily after washing with soap and water and patting dry for 14 days. Don't stop when it gets better continue for entire 14 days and make sure you clean area before applying more powder. If this doesn't work it may be because the fungus has acquired an immunity to over the counter products because you have to continue treatment even after symptoms subside and then you should let your doctor know and see if he will give oral anti fungal med like diflucan. If he won't help ask for referral to dermatologist.

You can buy an over the counter product just for jock itch. It's like tinactin or one of those products, same makers of the product for athletes feet. Just know that jock itch can be spread to a woman, it is a fungal infection so get rid of it.
