Based on your time schedule I highly recommend Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin and Shanghai. This is the real highlight of China!
As the capital, Beijing is a great place to start. There you can see the landmarks of China; the Great Wall and the Forbidden City! Xi'an is the most historical city, and has the world famous Terra Cotta Warriors. Guilin is the most beautiful city in China, and the highlight is the Li River cruise, which is like a living canvas! Shanghai is the most modern and international metropolis and a good ending for the trip.
These cities will easily fit in your time frame and will give your parents the best experience of China! If you like we can help you book your tour. You can see a sample itinerary like I described above on our website: http://www.jiasdreamtours.com/delight.html
Of course, we can always customize the tour to different needs and budgets. Please feel free to contact me at: Jia@Jiasdreamtours.com for any questions.

Go to Beijing to walk on the Great Wall of China. Fly to Shanghai and take the MagLev into the city, then walk on the Bund. Do a boat trip on the Yangtze from Wuhan to Chongqing, if you can. Go to Qingdao, the Chinese most popular seaside resort and where the olympic sailing will be held. Take an empty suitcase for all the wonderful goodies you will find to bring home. Enjoy and I hope it goes well.

Talk to your parents. What would they enjoy doing and experiencing? A trip that includes special sites or interests that they have is sure to be memorable for all of you.
Begin now by gathering information on the area(s) you're considering visiting and you may discover something new and unexpected.
Have an absolutely wonderful trip! It would be great to hear about the places you visited.

China has a lot of beautiful places.
I don't advise you to take them to some big cities. Because cities don't have their own spirit, they look all the same, like highrise building, wide streets, subways... which America has too.
I recommend you to take them to some small towns, which can show you a traditional China: Wuzhen (Zhejiang Province), Suzhou (Jiangsu Province), Lijiang (Yunnan Province)...
These small towns have some ancient architectures and traditional customs over hundreds of years, which can never be found in Chinese big cities.
