is considered a parasite for two reasons: it need a place in where to find all the proper things that will will use to reproduce, and it affect the host in which he get in without giving nothing of value to the host. a virus cant live or reproduce without a host. without a host a virus is just another thing in the world, like a particle or a stone, but inside a host (cell) it has life.

Because the virus cannot be seen. Once the virus is detected under the microscope then we can see what kind of virus it is. That is why it is a parasite, parasites cannot be seen with the naked eye. But under a microscope we can see it.

It cannot exist without depending on the protein manufactured by other cells, retroviruses even go further hijacking the DNA of the host cell to produce its own protein. So without the host cell the virus is dead.
