Charity and generosity. I am telling you the truth. The best cure for bitterness and resentment is charity and generosity. Even if it is forced in the beginning.

Try it! It work for me.

God Bless.

I'm not sure about your situation that has made you bitter, but if it's with a friend or with someone close I think I can help.
About two years ago my best friend and i moved in together. We use to get along fine until i started noticing some very ungodly and annoying behaviors in her. I became very bitter. After much prayer and consul i realized that she's not the only one displaying a ungodly behavior, that I was also very guilty.
I started lifting her up when ever I could. Always talking in love about her and not opening my mouth when I had something hateful to say. I found our friendship being restored and my self in a much better mood.
Don't give up good friend, and remember " a cheer full heart is good medicine". You are in my prayers.

Heb 12:12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
Heb 12:13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Heb 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.

When will you Christians come to a saving knowledge of the Psychedelic Yogurt Panda and his chosen Prophet Dr. Timothy Leary? First book of Dr.Timothy, chapter 1 " You want the key?" "Stick out your tongue, there's the key to the Universe." Pandesis, verse 14, " For the Panda so loved the world, that he instructed everyone to wear dildo-helmets made of technicolor jello, so they would not perish, but have everlasting life in the bamboo tree of redemption." I'm praying for your souls and may the Great Panda smile upon you all! The Alyogurty One loves you !

if you are referring to resentment/bitterness towards someone who has wronged you, here is the "good godly way and cure", straight from the words of Jesus.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you," (Matthew 12:43-44)

so i guess the opposite is love and compassion and prayer.
I wouldn't say that bitterness/resentment is learned. It is part of our sinful nature, which we are born with.
